OFI secures 2-2 draw against Asteras AKTOR via late goal
OFI secured a dramatic 2-2 draw against Asteras AKTOR at the Pankritio Stadium thanks to a 95th-minute goal by Nikos Athanasiou.
OFI took an early lead through Apostolakis in the 18th minute, but Makenta equalized for Asteras before the half. Asteras AKTOR then took the lead in the 50th minute via Ketou. Despite a disallowed goal for Asteras due to a VAR handball decision, the visitors maintained their advantage until Athanasiou’s late strike salvaged a point for the home side.
Following the match, OFI coach Christos Kontis noted that while the result was important, the team struggled with discipline and lost focus after their initial lead. Athanasiou expressed satisfaction with his late goal, noting he could see the ball's trajectory immediately after shooting.
