Ofsted awards strong ratings to UK teacher training providers

Ofsted has awarded ‘Strong Standard’ ratings to two teacher training providers, SWIFT Teacher Training and Red Kite Teacher Training, following inspections under the new Initial Teacher Education framework.

SWIFT Teacher Training, which receives training via Education South West, was praised for its ability to make teacher training accessible across large geographic areas, including rural, coastal, and urban communities such as Plymouth and Exeter. The inspection noted that the provider helps address teacher supply challenges by allowing individuals to train within their own communities. Ofsted also highlighted the provider’s strong partnership working with schools and multi-academy trusts.

Red Kite Teacher Training also secured a ‘Strong Standard’ rating across its primary and secondary provision. Marking its tenth year as a School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) provider, the organization was commended for its quality of mentoring, support systems, and collaborative culture. Director Victoria Lickley noted that the recognition reflects the expertise of the partnership network and the dedication of its trainees.
