Ofsted issues positive reports for two UK primary schools

Two UK primary schools have received positive evaluations in recent Ofsted reports.

Downham Feoffees Primary Academy in Little Downham, part of Meridian Trust, met the expected standards in all assessed areas. Inspectors noted that leaders prioritized literacy and numeracy, helping pupils build strong foundations in reading, writing, and maths. The report highlighted a “happy school” environment where pupils are polite, respectful, and well-prepared for their next educational stages. Additionally, the school was praised for its early-years provision and its ability to support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.

Shaftoe Trust Academy in Haydon Bridge, Northumberland, was also commended for its high academic standards and inclusive culture. The school reported that 100 per cent of pupils achieved the expected standard in reading, writing, and spelling, punctuation, and grammar, with 90 per cent meeting expected standards in maths. Inspectors highlighted the school’s calm environment and its commitment to personal development, noting that disadvantaged pupils and those with special educational needs make secure progress through tailored support.
