Ogan Komering Ilir Regent guarantees free healthcare for forest fire victims

Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) Regent H Muchendi Mahzareki has guaranteed free healthcare services for residents affected by smoke from forest and land fires (karhutla). During a visit to the Tulung Selapan Community Health Center, the Regent emphasized that medical treatment for respiratory issues caused by smoke must be provided at no cost, following directives from the South Sumatra Governor.

Muchendi instructed health workers to be proactive in educating the community, particularly children, the elderly, and outdoor workers, about the risks of smoke exposure and symptoms such as coughing, shortness of breath, and eye irritation. He urged health centers to provide active outreach rather than waiting for patients to arrive.
