OGC Nice sues Olympique Marseille's new sporting director Gregory Lorenzi

OGC Nice has launched legal proceedings against Olympique Marseille after the club hired Gregory Lorenzi as its new sporting director. Nice claims Lorenzi signed a binding contract with them and later reneged by moving to their Ligue 1 rival, a breach that could carry significant financial consequences. The club’s president, Maurice Cohen, said, “He signed the contract and then changed his mind. The club wants to be respected. We will not grant any concessions.” A hearing is scheduled for September.

Separately, French media report that Lorenzi was placed in police custody earlier while still serving as sporting director of Stade Brestois. The investigation relates to alleged irregularities in player transfers involving several French clubs. No judicial decision has been issued yet, and the case remains under investigation.
