Ogori City’s Tanabata Shrine Summer Festival to Go Ahead on Aug. 7 Despite Earthquake Damage

The Tanabata Shrine summer festival in Ogori City is scheduled for August 7, 2026, from 5:45 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The event will feature traditional lion‑dance performances, food stalls, a special stage with dances, hyottoko performances, drumming, and a lottery draw.

High‑school volunteers will help decorate the shrine on July 4 and manage the collection of wish‑papers on July 6. Although a July 28 earthquake damaged part of the shrine’s torii gate, organizers have confirmed that the festival will proceed as planned with safety precautions in place.
