Ogun Gov. Dapo Abiodun Presents APC Candidate Adeola and Calls for State Police Reform

Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun formally presented the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, and his running‑mate Mrs. Kudirat Adegunwa‑Balogun, to the Ijebu Traditional Council at the Awujale’s Palace. The governor said his choice was guided by equity and competence and highlighted the historic aim of producing the first governor from the Ogun West Senatorial District. He recalled past support from traditional rulers and pledged continued development projects, including oil exploration, a deep seaport, revival of the Olokola LNG project and support for the creation of Ijebu State.

In a separate town‑hall meeting, Governor Abiodun urged comprehensive judicial, fiscal and institutional reforms to support the proposed State Police Bill. He called for equitable funding mechanisms for state police, the establishment of State Courts of Appeal, independent police‑complaints commissions and measures to address the root causes of insecurity such as farmer‑herder conflicts. Highlighting Ogun’s status as an industrial hub, he warned that low federal allocations could hamper the effectiveness of a state police force and advocated for a balanced financing framework that combines internally generated revenue with federal transfers.
