Ogun State begins N6bn Community Investment Fund disbursement

The Ogun State Government, in partnership with the Federal Government and the World Bank, has commenced the disbursement of N6 billion from the Community Investment Fund (CIF). The initiative, part of the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up, targets 3,855 women affinity groups across four local government areas.

Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, flagged off the disbursement in Ijebu-Ode, noting that women's groups in Ogun State have already collectively saved N2.692 billion and disbursed N4.006 billion in loans among members. The fund is designed as a sustainable revolving financing facility rather than an outright grant, intended to help women transition from subsistence activities to sustainable enterprises, create employment, and increase household incomes.

Governor Dapo Abiodun, represented by Motunrayo Adeleye, stated that beneficiary groups demonstrated readiness by meeting requirements such as regular savings, internal lending, and the preparation of micro-investment plans. The intervention aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on inclusive economic growth and social protection.
