Ogun State extends work palliative and ₦10,000 transport allowance

Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State approved the extension of the one‑day‑off‑duty work palliative for eligible public and civil servants, together with a monthly transport allowance of ₦10,000 for an additional three months, covering July to September 2026. The measures build on a similar scheme that ran from April to June 2026 in response to rising petrol prices.

The palliative does not apply to officers on shift duties or to personnel providing essential services, including medical staff, judicial workers, teachers, security personnel and other officials whose duties require physical presence. A circular issued by State Head of Service Kehinde Iskeel Olanrewaju Saka urged eligible workers to use the arrangement while maintaining service delivery. The state government reiterated its commitment to easing the economic burden on workers and enhancing productivity.
