Ogun State launches support package for 10,000 farmers

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has launched a support package for 10,000 rice and cassava farmers to enhance food security and agricultural productivity. The initiative includes the distribution of subsidized fertilizers, urea, herbicides, and improved planting materials.

To promote mechanization and digital integration, the government is providing 10 tractors and 1,200 Android phones. The mobile devices are pre-equipped with applications designed to provide weather updates, market prices, and guidance on best agricultural practices to help farmers make informed decisions and connect with markets.

Under the program, 2,000 rice farmers and 8,000 cassava farmers will receive specific quantities of fertilizer and urea. Cassava farmers will also receive 25 bundles of stems each. Governor Abiodun stated that the administration aims to transform agriculture into a technology-driven, profitable sector through investments in processing, storage, and infrastructure.
