Ogun State Police arrest man for alleged ₦2.5m pilgrimage fraud
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested Kehinde Makinde, also known as ‘Pastor Kenny’, in Ibadan, Oyo State. Makinde is accused of defrauding 18 fellowship members of approximately ₦2.5 million.
According to police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the suspect allegedly used the false pretense of organizing a government-sponsored pilgrimage to Jerusalem to collect the funds. He reportedly promised each affected member ₦2 million as part of the arrangement.
The arrest followed a four-month investigation by detectives from the Obantoko Division. Authorities also stated that Makinde is suspected of manipulating victims through fraudulent spiritual deliverance services across Ogun, Oyo, and Osun states. He remains in custody as investigators seek to identify additional victims and potential accomplices.
