Ogun State police arrest man for fatal assault of neighbor

A 38-year-old man, identified as Oje Michael Eje, was beaten to death by his neighbor in Mowe, Ogun State, following a dispute over his interaction with a three-year-old child.

According to the Ogun State Police Command, the suspect, 43-year-old Edebiri Temitope, became angry after Eje hugged and played with his child, characterizing the interaction as “rough play.” Temitope allegedly used a bamboo stick to strike Eje repeatedly until he collapsed and died.

While initial reports suggested the suspect had fled the area with his family, police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed that Temitope has since been arrested. The suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
