Ogun State Police Commissioner addresses officer welfare and 2027 election security

Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, has addressed both personnel welfare and future electoral security during recent engagements in Abeokuta.

At a commendation ceremony held at the Police Officers’ Mess, the Ogun State Police Command honored 34 serving officers and five retired personnel for meritorious service. Ojajuni highlighted the difficulties of the profession, describing police work as an arduous task characterized by anxiety and stress. He emphasized the need for dedication and resilience, noting that long-term service requires significant mental and physical fortitude.

In a separate workshop themed “Elections, Security, The Law, Stakeholders’ and The Media,” Ojajuni issued a warning regarding the 2027 general elections. He urged political actors to prevent criminal elements from exploiting the electoral process and reminded stakeholders that elections are a constitutional process rather than a war. He stressed that maintaining peace and election security is a shared responsibility involving political parties, election officials, the media, and citizens.
