Ogun State to upgrade Cooperative College and expand small business loans

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has announced plans to upgrade the Ogun State Cooperative College to award National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) qualifications. The initiative aims to improve infrastructure and academic capacity to train professionals in cooperative management, risk assessment, and institutional protection.

During the 2026 International Day of Cooperatives celebration in Ijebu-Ode, Abiodun disclosed that his administration has disbursed over ₦1 billion in loans to support cooperatives, artisans, traders, and small business owners. This total includes ₦500 million through the state’s revolving loan scheme via the Ogun State Cooperative Federation and another ₦500 million through the Oko ‘Owo’ Irinse Dapo Soft Loan Initiative.

To further promote economic growth, the governor pledged to provide land for cooperative societies to engage in housing projects and agricultural production.
