Ogun State youths protest delayed Abeokuta–Olorunda–Imeko Road reconstruction
Members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in the Ogun West Senatorial District held a protest along the Alamala axis to demand the reconstruction of the Abeokuta–Olorunda–Imeko Road. Protesters expressed frustration over the deteriorating condition of the route, which they described as a “death trap.”
Kehinde Olorunjubelo, the council’s State Vice Chairman in Ogun West, noted that Governor Dapo Abiodun had previously committed to the project during a January 2026 event. The Governor had directed the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure to prepare an estimate for the reconstruction, with expectations that construction would begin shortly thereafter.
However, protesters claim that several months have passed without visible progress. The road serves as a vital link between Yewa North, Imeko-Afon local government areas, and the state capital. The current state of the infrastructure is reportedly increasing transportation costs and vehicle maintenance expenses while negatively impacting farmers, traders, and students.
