Ohio awards $2.5 million in drug abuse response grants

The Ohio Attorney General’s office has awarded over $2.5 million in grants through the Drug Abuse Response Team (DART) program to assist communities in connecting opioid addiction survivors to treatment and recovery. The funding, which includes $1 million from settlement funds and $1.5 million from General Assembly funding, supports 38 law enforcement agencies and local governments through June 30, 2027.

Specific recipients in the region include the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office, which received $144,942, the Columbiana County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board with $126,198, and the East Palestine Police Department with $24,315. These DART teams consist of law enforcement and behavioral health providers offering 24-hour assistance to survivors and their families to reduce the risk of future overdoses.
