Ohio congressional candidates focus on taxes and oversight

Several congressional races in Ohio are drawing attention as candidates present differing views on economic and federal policies.

In Ohio’s ninth congressional district, Marcy Kaptur and Derek Merrin are competing. Merrin, endorsed by Americans for Prosperity Action, has focused on his record of lowering property and state income taxes. Kaptur has advocated for eliminating tax cuts for corporations and top earners, while also calling for stricter enforcement of trade laws regarding solar panel imports to protect domestic manufacturers.

In Ohio’s fourth congressional district, Republican incumbent Jim Jordan is seeking reelection against Democrat Joshua Kolasinski and independent Tracey Tackett. Jordan has centered his campaign on federal oversight, investigating corruption and alleged bias within the FBI and Department of Justice. He has also expressed a commitment to addressing sanctuary city policies and ensuring federal government accountability.
