Ohio Department of Transportation seeks public input on infrastructure projects
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 1 is seeking public feedback on several proposed infrastructure projects across multiple counties. These projects include bridge replacements, culvert maintenance, and roadway reconstructions designed to improve safety and mitigate flooding.
Key proposals include the replacement of the U.S. 127 bridge over Long Prairie Creek near Ohio City, scheduled for summer 2030. Additionally, ODOT plans to reconstruct Ohio 49 north of Willshire to reduce roadway flooding by raising pavement elevation, with construction anticipated for summer 2028. This work will occur in the St. Marys River floodplain and may impact the Willshire Quarry.
Other planned maintenance and stabilization efforts include:
• Slope stabilization and culvert replacement on State Route 190 in Putnam County near Ottoville. • Bridge and culvert maintenance on State Route 81, State Route 235, State Route 67, and State Route 292. • Bridge maintenance on State Route 31 south of Kenton.
Most projects are expected to begin between 2027 and 2030. While construction will cause temporary roadway closures and detours, ODOT intends to maintain property access for local traffic throughout the duration of the work.
