Ohio Department of Transportation to implement all-way stops at three intersections

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 1 is converting three intersections into all-way stops to improve road safety. This initiative is part of a broader statewide effort to implement all-way stops at select locations where crash data indicates frequent failures to stop or yield to cross-traffic.

The scheduled improvements include: - August 24: Ohio 119 (Defiance Avenue) and Ohio 716 (Harrison Street) in Maria Stein, Mercer County. - August 31: Ohio 118 and Ohio 707 near Rockford, Mercer County. - September 7: Ohio 637 and County Road 138 in Jackson Township, Paulding County.

The work is expected to take place over the next two months. ODOT will utilize message boards to alert drivers and equip all approaches with flashing stop-ahead signs. Chris Hughes, ODOT District 1 Deputy Director, noted that initial results from previous implementations have been encouraging and well-received by local communities.
