Ohio father charged after using daughter's TikTok to lure and shoot alleged rapist

In Grove City, Ohio, 31‑year‑old Malik Chandler used his 11‑year‑old daughter’s TikTok account to contact 20‑year‑old Diego Montoya Gonzalez, who was accused of raping the child. Chandler convinced Gonzalez to return to the family home, where he shot the man twice. Gonzalez survived, was taken to Grant Medical Center in Columbus and later faced a grand‑jury indictment on eight counts, including two counts of rape, five counts of distributing child sexual material and one count of obstruction of justice.

Chandler was arrested and charged with felony assault and, because he is a felon prohibited from possessing a firearm, with using a weapon “under disability.” A judge set his bond at $100,000. If convicted, he could face up to 18 years in prison. The case has sparked debate over vigilantism and child‑protection measures.

Both men remain in custody pending further court proceedings.
