Ohio gubernatorial candidates campaign across college campuses

Republican Vivek Ramaswamy and Democrat Amy Acton are actively campaigning across Ohio colleges and surrounding areas as part of the 2026 gubernatorial race. Since January, the candidates have made at least 13 combined campus-area stops. Acton has visited higher education institutions at least eight times, including multiple stops at Ohio University, while Ramaswamy has made at least five visits, including a rally in Athens.

During the campaign, Ramaswamy faced criticism following a recent town hall event in Tiffin, Ohio. Originally promoted to take place at Tiffin University’s Marion Center, which seats up to 450 people, the event was moved to a smaller catering and party room with a capacity of approximately 50. Local critics and social media users highlighted the venue change and expected low turnout as a setback for the Republican nominee.
