Ohio man arrested after I-95 police chase and crash in Maine

William Ratliffe, a 33-year-old man from South Euclid, Ohio, was arrested following a high-speed chase and crash on Interstate 95 in Hampden, Maine. The incident began Monday afternoon when Maine State Police received reports of a Toyota Tacoma driving erratically near Plymouth.

A trooper stopped the vehicle near mile marker 173. During the stop, authorities reported smelling alcohol, seeing an open container, and observing a female passenger with facial injuries. Ratliffe reportedly became argumentative and refused to exit the vehicle, instead fleeing at a high rate of speed. The pursuit ended when the truck crashed in the interstate median near the Hampden Rest Area.

Ratliffe attempted to evade capture by fleeing into the woods on foot but was located by a Penobscot County Sheriff's Office K-9 team. He was subsequently transported to the Penobscot County Jail. He faces multiple charges, including domestic violence assault, domestic violence reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, OUI refusal, operating without a license, refusing to submit to arrest or detention, and leaving the scene of a property damage crash.
