Ohio mother and two partners accused of torturing 7-year-old to death

A 7-year-old boy, William Evans, has died following alleged torture and abuse in Ohio. The child, who faced developmental challenges, was discovered dead inside a closet with his hands and body bound with tape.

Authorities have identified the suspects as the boy's mother, 38-year-old Caitlin Evans, and her two partners, 23-year-old Nessa Kinney and 33-year-old Kirby Rankin. The suspects are accused of burning, beating, and subjecting the child to water torture. Hamilton County Coroner Lakshmi Samarko determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the head.

Law enforcement officials described the case as one of the most depraved instances of child abuse encountered in their careers, noting extensive injuries to the child's face, torso, back, and limbs. Investigators are also looking into the possibility of sexual abuse. The boy's biological father testified in court, stating he had been kept away from his son for nine months through deception.
