Ohio polls show Democratic leads in governor and Senate races

Recent polling indicates Democratic candidates are leading in major Ohio races. In the gubernatorial contest, Democratic nominee Dr. Amy Acton has increased her lead over Republican Vivek Ramaswamy. A Suffolk poll placed Acton ahead 50-41 percent among likely voters, while a Marist poll showed her leading 50-44 percent among registered voters. Acton, a former state health director, shows particular strength among women and independent voters.

In the U.S. Senate race, former Senator Sherrod Brown holds an eight-point lead over Republican incumbent Jon Husted, according to the Marist poll. The survey found Brown leading 51-43 percent among registered voters.

The Marist data suggests a negative sentiment toward President Donald Trump in the state, with 41 percent of respondents stating their midterm vote would be a statement against him. Additionally, the poll noted that 41 percent of voters feel they have become economically worse off over the past year.
