Ohio residents adopt cost-saving measures amid rising gas prices

Residents in Northeast Ohio, particularly in the Cleveland area, are adopting various strategies to manage rising fuel costs. According to AAA, the average price for unleaded regular gas in Ohio reached $4.27 per gallon, a significant increase from $3.16 per gallon the previous year.

To cope with high prices and broader inflation, which the U.S. Department of Labor reported as being up 3.4% from a year ago, locals are utilizing several methods to save money. These include using ride-sharing services like Uber, utilizing public transit, walking, biking, and carpooling. Some residents are also consolidating errands or shopping at wholesale clubs and specific grocery stores that offer fuel discounts through loyalty programs.

Other cost-saving measures include driving fuel-efficient hybrid vehicles or smaller engines to maximize mileage. The economic pressure is compounded by rising costs in other sectors, such as electricity and groceries.
