Ohio State coach Ryan Day evaluates team performance after Iowa win
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day addressed several aspects of the Buckeyes' performance following their 31-14 victory over Iowa. While star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith continues to draw significant defensive attention, Day emphasized the necessity of a balanced passing attack. He noted that while Smith's ability to make difficult catches is impressive, quarterback Julian Sayin must remain disciplined and focus on the offensive process rather than relying on individual highlight plays.
Day also highlighted improvements in the team's run game and run defense. The Buckeyes rushed for 160 yards against Iowa, showing increased efficiency and the ability to control the clock late in the game. Defensively, the team significantly improved their run containment, limiting Iowa to just 39 rushing yards. However, Day noted that the special teams unit still requires further development.
