Ohio State freshmen Jay Timmons and Legend Bey emerge in preseason camp

Several freshmen are expected to make significant impacts for the Ohio State football team during the 2026 season. Five-star cornerback Jay Timmons, the nation’s top-ranked recruit at his position, has already demonstrated his ability to compete at the collegiate level. His performance in camp may lead to a positional shift for transfer Earl Little Jr., moving him back to a full-time safety role.

Additionally, freshman Legend Bey has returned to the practice field following a preseason suspension for a violation of team rules. Head coach Ryan Day noted that Bey has responded positively to the setback. Bey, a former standout quarterback from Texas, is currently transitioning to the running back position at Ohio State.
