Ohio State Law School to relocate to downtown Columbus
Ohio State University’s Moritz College of Law has announced plans to relocate from its current campus location to the historic Huntington National Bank Building in downtown Columbus. The move, targeted for fall 2029, will see the law school occupy the 13-story building at 17 S. High St., situated near the Statehouse.
The nonprofit development group Downtown Columbus Inc. will own the building and oversee renovations. Ohio State intends to lease the approximately 200,000-square-foot space under a long-term lease, with an option to purchase in the future. Renovations will involve converting the ground-floor banking lobby into an event space and rebuilding upper floors to house classrooms, faculty offices, and the law library.
University President Ravi Bellamkonda noted that the relocation aims to embed students within the city’s legal and political fabric. The new location provides walking distance access to the Ohio Supreme Court, City Hall, and major law firms, which officials say will expand opportunities for clerkships, externships, and mentorship. The law school will remain in Drinko Hall until the transition is complete.
