Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin sidelined indefinitely

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day announced that starting quarterback Julian Sayin is out indefinitely following a throwing arm injury sustained during a 19-15 victory over Indiana. The coaching staff is preparing for a scenario where Sayin misses the remainder of the regular season and potentially the postseason.

With the Buckeyes currently on a bye week, the team is evaluating two potential replacements: true freshman Luke Fahey and sophomore Tavien St. Clair. Day noted that Fahey has held an edge in practice over the last month, but both players will receive significant repetitions to determine who provides the best chance to win ahead of the upcoming matchup against USC.

The injury creates significant challenges for the third-ranked Buckeyes, as the offense may need to rely more heavily on the run game and star receiver Jeremiah Smith. Former Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer has publicly questioned the depth chart decision, expressing confusion over why the highly recruited St. Clair is not currently positioned ahead of Fahey.
