Ohio State soccer teams win home openers in 1-0 doubleheaders
The Ohio State University women’s and men’s soccer teams both secured 1-0 home-opening victories at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on August 21, 2026.
In the women’s match, the Buckeyes defeated No. 12 Kansas 1-0. Amanda Schlueter scored the decisive goal in the 39th minute. The victory came against a Kansas program led by Lori Walker-Hock, who previously built the Kansas program over three decades.
The men’s team also earned a 1-0 win, this time against Virginia Tech. Senior transfer Isaiah Chisolm scored the game-winning goal in the 58th minute via a header from a Jack Wayne corner kick. The Buckeyes controlled much of the match, outshooting Virginia Tech 19-6. Goalkeeper Patrick McLaughlin recorded his second career shutout in the win.
