Ohio teen arrested for explosive drone plot against White House UFC event

Tycen Proper, a 19‑year‑old from Knox County, Ohio, was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States, attempted murder of a federal officer, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a violent crime, and receipt or transfer of a firearm used to commit a felony. Prosecutors say Proper planned to use explosive‑laden drones over the UFC Freedom 250 event being held at the White House, followed by snipers targeting people fleeing the blasts.

The FBI opened the investigation after Proper’s mother reported his recent behavior, including firearms purchases, research on Washington locations, and online communications about the plot. A search of the family home uncovered thousands of rounds of ammunition, an AR‑style rifle and a newly bought rifle. Federal agents in Ohio, California, Missouri and Nebraska coordinated the arrests. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine praised law‑enforcement agencies for averting the attack. A detention hearing is set for Wednesday in federal court.
