Ohrid Forum for Dialogue established to strengthen constitutional judiciaries

The Constitutional Court of North Macedonia has launched the Ohrid Forum for Dialogue to foster greater trust in constitutional judiciaries. The initiative is supported by the constitutional courts of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The forum serves as a regional platform for cooperation, experience sharing, and the promotion of independence, transparency, and efficiency within constitutional courts. The initiative identifies trust as a systemic issue requiring engagement from judges, political entities, the media, and the scientific community.

Key measures to strengthen judicial integrity include the adoption of a Code of Conduct based on universal constitutional standards, enhancing the professional competence of judges to limit external influences, and increasing transparency by making court decisions more accessible to the public.
