Ohrid In Situ selected for 2027 Venice Architecture Biennale

The project ‘Ohrid In Situ – architecture, continuity and wisdom of the place’ has been selected to represent North Macedonia at the 20th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice in 2027, organized by La Biennale di Venezia.

Developed by the citizens' association ‘Contineo’ from Skopje, the project was approved by a commission following a call for participation. The Ministry of Culture stated that the proposal is conceptually clear and theoretically relevant, focusing on the exceptional natural, cultural, and architectural values of Ohrid.

The project explores how nature, topography, architecture, and daily life have intertwined in Ohrid over centuries. It places a specific emphasis on regional modernism from the second half of the 20th century and how Macedonian architects reinterpreted the inherited spatial experience of the region.
