Ohrid, North Macedonia Implements Safe City Traffic Surveillance System
The traffic police of Ohrid, North Macedonia have started rolling out the "Safe City" traffic monitoring system that officially began on 1 February 2026. Following final testing, safety cameras were put into operation at the highway police post in Novo Selo, Debarca municipality.
In the coming weeks the project is expected to become functional on the road between the villages of Gorenci and Trebenista, on other high‑traffic routes and on corridors 8 and 10 within the Ohrid police area. The devices are still in a final technical verification stage and do not yet issue sanctions. Police officials stress that the system will provide continuous traffic control, detect violations, reduce accidents and improve road‑user discipline, urging drivers to observe the 100 km/h speed limit on this section.
