Oi bankruptcy: Anatel advises customers to maintain services

Following the confirmation of Oi's bankruptcy, the Brazilian National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) has advised customers that services will not be interrupted immediately. Consumers are not required to cancel plans or migrate to other operators at this time.

Anatel stated that it is monitoring the process and that services under Oi's responsibility must be maintained while transition solutions are being defined. Because different operations may have different outcomes, there is no single deadline for the continuity of all services. For instance, the transfer of fixed telephony licenses to the provider Método is currently under review, while broadband and internet services are being evaluated alongside a judicial administrator.

Customers are advised to continue paying for services effectively rendered and to ignore unofficial communications. If changes to providers, contracts, technology, or payment methods become necessary, customers must be informed clearly and in advance. Individuals with outstanding credits or legal claims against Oi may need to seek inclusion of those credits within the bankruptcy process.
