OIC to hold ministerial meeting on Afghanistan in New York

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has announced that Afghanistan will be a central focus of the Ministerial Contact Group meeting. This session is scheduled to take place on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Following a decision made at the 51st Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Istanbul, the Contact Group was established to create an effective mechanism for implementing OIC resolutions regarding Afghanistan. The group aims to coordinate diplomatic efforts among member states and assist Afghanistan in addressing humanitarian, political, and economic challenges.

The group will consist of interested member states, the OIC Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Afghanistan, and the Secretary-General himself. OIC Secretary-General Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed will lead a delegation to the UN General Assembly to facilitate these discussions.
