Global oil prices drop amid easing Middle East supply concerns

Global oil prices have experienced a sharp decline, with Brent and WTI crude dropping significantly as market concerns regarding Middle East supply disruptions ease. A primary driver for this downward trend is the ongoing discussion between Iran and Oman to establish a temporary maritime corridor through the Hormuz Strait, which includes plans for mine clearance to facilitate safer commercial shipping.

Investors are also reacting to the shift in U.S. policy toward Iran. Rather than escalating to direct military conflict, the United States has focused on expanding economic sanctions, a move that analysts suggest carries a lower risk of immediate supply shocks. Additionally, the prospect of OPEC+ increasing production in September and a strengthening U.S. Dollar have further pressured energy markets.

While international prices have fallen, domestic fuel prices in Vietnam are expected to undergo adjustments, with forecasts suggesting a potential slight increase in the upcoming regulatory period.
