Oil prices exceed $100 as IEA accelerates strategic reserve releases

Global oil prices have surged above $100 per barrel, with Brent crude reaching nearly $106, driven by heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz have reached their highest levels since the onset of the Iran war, threatening critical maritime supply routes.

In response to rising fuel costs and supply disruptions, the International Energy Agency (IEA) has agreed to accelerate the release of emergency oil stocks. This follows a G7 decision to release 100 million barrels of crude and diesel from strategic reserves over a four-month period. The IEA is specifically prioritizing diesel supplies to stabilize markets facing record-high prices.

Regional impacts vary: diesel prices in Montenegro have hit record highs, while in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, prices remain elevated. Meanwhile, in Vietnam, recent adjustments have seen gasoline prices rise while diesel prices experienced a slight decrease.
