Oil Terminal union announces indefinite strike in Romania

The Oil Terminal union has announced an indefinite general strike starting September 17, 2026, at 7:00 AM. This action follows a failed collective bargaining process regarding a proposed 6.5% wage increase, which the government reportedly refused to approve despite it being below the current inflation rate.

Prior to the general strike, a warning strike is scheduled for September 10, 2026, between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. This warning strike will not involve a stoppage of activities. On the same day, the union will hold a general assembly at the company premises to inform its members.

Oil Terminal SA holds a strategic position in the Black Sea region as the largest oil terminal operator for petroleum products in the Port of Constanta. Its operations include the receiving, loading, and unloading of crude oil, petroleum products, petrochemicals, and liquid chemicals for import, export, and transit. Management stated it is taking all necessary steps to protect the company's interests and minimize the impact of the strike on operations.
