Oil Transport Disruptions Strike Hormuz Tanker and Kazakhstan Pipeline

An oil tanker sailing through the Strait of Hormuz was struck by an unidentified projectile about 20 km north‑east of the Omani town of Lima. The impact damaged the vessel’s engine room but caused no crew casualties and no fuel spill has been reported. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) is monitoring the incident and investigators are working to determine the projectile’s origin amid heightened regional tensions.

Separately, Kazakhstan has suspended oil exports through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) for the third time in a month after Ukrainian drone attacks set fire to two Russian tankers in the Black Sea port of Novorossiisk. The attacks forced several tankers to reroute to Turkey and Spain and temporarily removed more than one million barrels per day of Kazakh oil from the market, raising supply‑risk concerns for global energy markets.
