A 54-year-old man has been placed under investigation for attempted murder following a shooting in Cormeilles, Oise, on August 27. The man, a landscaper with no prior criminal record, reported hearing suspicious noises at a neighbor's property while on vacation.
Armed with a 12-gauge shotgun, the man confronted several individuals fleeing the scene. He admitted to firing multiple shots toward the suspects as they ran toward a vehicle, though his defense maintains these were warning shots intended only to scare off the intruders rather than kill them.
A 21-year-old man was later found seriously injured in Assainvillers, Somme, after being abandoned by his accomplices. He was airlifted to a hospital in Amiens for treatment. Following an investigation by the gendarmerie, the shooter was apprehended and presented to an investigating judge in Senlis on August 29. He has been released under judicial supervision while the investigation continues.
