Oita City launches generative AI service using Digital Agency software

Oita City has launched ‘Oita GENAI’, a generative AI service built on ‘Gennai’, an open-source software (OSS) developed and released by Japan’s Digital Agency. The service officially began operations on October 1.

Developed and provided by Kawaguchi Hiroyuki LLC, the system is designed to operate within the Local Government Wide Area Network (LGWAN). It utilizes Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to search and reference Oita City’s specific data, including local regulations, guidelines, past assembly responses, and internal manuals.

The AI is intended to assist with various administrative tasks, such as drafting documents based on regulations, assisting in the creation of assembly responses, transcribing meeting audio, multilingual translation, image generation, and policy planning support. The system utilizes Sakura Cloud data centers for its operations.
