Oita City motorcycle collision results in one fatality

A fatal traffic accident occurred on the morning of September 8 in Oita City, Oita Prefecture, when a car and a motorcycle collided at a prefectural road intersection. According to police, the collision happened around 7:40 AM when a vehicle attempting a right turn struck a motorcycle traveling straight in the opposite lane.

The motorcyclist, identified as 53-year-old Kimiaki Okuno, an organization employee from Daido-cho, Oita City, was transported to a hospital in critical condition before being confirmed dead. At the time of the accident, Mr. Okuno was reportedly commuting to work. The incident took place at a well-visible intersection equipped with traffic lights.

In response to the accident, the Oita Central Police Station has issued a five-day traffic emergency declaration starting September 8, during which they will intensify traffic enforcement and patrols in the area.
