Oita Prefecture residential fires result in one fatality

A series of residential fires occurred in Oita Prefecture between the night of August 11 and the early morning of August 12.

In Usa City, a fire broke out at the residence of a 77-year-old restaurant owner. After firefighters extinguished the blaze approximately four hours after the initial report, a body was discovered in the first-floor ruins. Authorities are working to confirm if the deceased is the resident, who has been unreachable since the incident.

Additionally, a fire occurred at a prefectural employee residence in Oita City. The blaze originated on the first floor and was contained within two hours, resulting in two residents being hospitalized for respiratory distress.
