OJK investigates 15 unlicensed insurance brokerages and issues regulatory sanctions

The Indonesian Financial Services Authority (OJK) is intensifying its oversight of the financial sector through several regulatory actions. The agency is currently investigating 15 entities suspected of conducting insurance and reinsurance brokerage activities without the required permits. This investigation aims to strengthen evidence of violations and prevent potential consumer losses.

In terms of enforcement, OJK has issued 45 administrative sanctions related to failures in reporting financial literacy and inclusion activities through September 2026. These sanctions include 16 written warnings and 29 fines totaling Rp 1.7 billion. Additionally, the agency has issued 119 sanctions for consumer protection violations involving advertising, debt collection, and transparency between January and September 2026.

On the economic front, OJK is working to strengthen the MSME financing ecosystem by providing more accurate and accessible data. Total financing for MSMEs reached Rp 1,949 trillion as of July 2026. The agency continues to monitor the industry's growth, projecting moderate growth for the insurance sector due to global economic pressures.
