OJK provides credit relaxation for earthquake victims in Flores
The Indonesian Financial Services Authority (OJK) has implemented a credit and financing relaxation policy for residents affected by earthquakes in eight regencies across Flores, Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT). The policy, established by the OJK Board of Commissioners on September 28, 2026, is set to remain in effect for three years.
The affected areas include Ende, East Flores, Manggarai, West Manggarai, East Manggarai, Nagekeo, Ngada, and Sikka. This measure follows assessments showing that the earthquake has disrupted local economic activities and impacted the ability of debtors to meet their financial obligations.
Under the policy, credit quality assessments for loans with a ceiling of up to Rp10 billion will be based on payment punctuality. The relaxation aims to mitigate the disaster's impact on repayment capabilities and support the acceleration of economic recovery in the region. Governor Melki Laka Lena expressed appreciation for the decision, noting it provides necessary space for residents to adjust payments according to their current capacities while restoring their livelihoods.
