OK removes service fees from parking app in Denmark
The energy company OK is removing service fees from its parking app across Denmark to address lack of transparency in the parking industry. Many motorists have been paying hidden service charges of up to 15 percent when using various parking applications, meaning a 100 DKK parking session could cost as much as 115 DKK.
Starting September 9, users of the OK app will only pay the actual parking price without additional surcharges. The app is compatible with public parking spaces in major Danish cities, including Copenhagen, Frederiksberg, Aarhus, Odense, Aalborg, and Esbjerg, as well as various private parking garages through partnerships. Kenneth Korsgaard, mobility director at OK, stated that the move aims to make parking cheaper and more transparent, noting that the industry has a poor reputation due to such opaque costs.
