OK Store opens first Kasukabe location amid supermarket competition

The discount supermarket chain OK Store opened its first location in Kasukabe, Saitama Prefecture, on August 25, 2026. The new store, located near Nitori and Aeon Mall Kasukabe, drew large crowds, with some customers arriving before the scheduled 9:00 AM opening.

OK Store President Ryotaro Ninomiya stated that the company aims to differentiate itself from competitors in the highly competitive local supermarket market by focusing on high product quality and significantly lower prices. The new branch features an expanded frozen food section, which is 1.4 times larger than the company's stores from a decade ago, catering to the growing demand for convenience and time-saving food options.

In related industry news, Mos Food Services announced the launch of ‘MOS Deli’, a new frozen food brand. The brand will debut in September with frozen ‘Yaki Onigiri Burgers’ featuring beef kalbi and chicken kinpira, targeting busy households and the growing frozen food market.
