Okai Mintah targets NDC return in Bimbilla constituency

Okai Mintah, Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Youth Working Committee, has pledged to reclaim the Bimbilla parliamentary seat for the party in 2028. Speaking to Branch Youth Organizers in the Bimbilla Constituency on August 21, 2026, Mintah stated that the NDC Youth Wing intends to reverse the party’s recent fortunes through intensified grassroots mobilization and improved organizational structures.

Mintah, who is seeking the position of National Youth Organizer, emphasized that young voters are a decisive force in Ghanaian elections. He argued that the party must invest in its youth structures and ensure branch-level organization to mobilize every possible vote. He stated, “Bimbilla is coming back to the NDC, and we are going to make that happen through a stronger, more organized and more purposeful Youth Wing.”

The Bimbilla constituency has a history of highly competitive elections. Since the start of Ghana’s Fourth Republic, the seat has frequently changed hands. While the NDC held the seat in 2000 and 2004, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) regained control in 2008. In the 2016 parliamentary election, the NPP’s Dominic Nitiwul secured 57.73% of the vote, while the NDC’s Joseph Kwabena Manboah-Rockson received 34.68%.
