Okanagan College to launch new medical lab programs in 2027
Okanagan College, in partnership with Interior Health, has announced the launch of two new medical laboratory programs scheduled to begin in the Fall 2027 semester. The initiative aims to train approximately 50 students locally to meet healthcare demands in the region.
The new offerings include a two-year Medical Lab Technologist program and a six-to-eight-month Medical Lab Assistant program. According to reported wage data, Medical Lab Technologists earn an average of $41 per hour, while Medical Lab Assistants can earn up to $31 per hour.
Prospective students can currently submit expressions of interest to prepare for the formal application process in September 2027. The programs are designed to provide community-based education, allowing students to train and build careers within their own communities.
